Equine Assisted Therapy

Located at 2056 Division Road, East Greenwich, RI, our Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) program offers a powerful, experiential approach to healing in a peaceful farm setting. Using the EAGALA model (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association), sessions are grounded in a team-based framework that includes a licensed clinician and a trained Equine Support Specialist working alongside our horses to help clients meet meaningful treatment goals.

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy is an interactive, ground-based (no riding) therapeutic model that engages clients in hands-on experiences with horses. Horses are highly intuitive and responsive to human emotion and behavior, offering immediate, honest feedback that helps individuals develop insight, emotional regulation, communication skills, boundaries, and confidence. Because the work is experiential rather than talk-based alone, clients often access breakthroughs that traditional office settings may not reach as quickly.

EAP can benefit:

  • Youth & Adolescents – building self-esteem, managing anxiety or depression, strengthening social skills, and improving emotional regulation.

  • Adults – processing trauma, navigating life transitions, managing stress, and enhancing personal growth.

  • Couples – improving communication, rebuilding trust, and strengthening connection.

  • Families – addressing conflict, strengthening roles and boundaries, and improving overall family dynamics.

Together, clients collaborate with our clinical and equine team to identify individualized treatment goals and engage in structured activities designed to foster growth, resilience, and relational healing.

At Shine the Light Healing & Wellness, we believe healing happens not only through conversation, but through connection, experience, and reflection. Our partnership with Faith Hill Care Farm provides a unique therapeutic space where insight meets action—and transformation becomes possible.

Group/Community Workshops & Team Building Experiences

We also offer a small number of group-based workshops and team-building experiences throughout the year. These experiential groups are ideal for youth cohorts, women’s empowerment groups, leadership teams, and organizations seeking to strengthen communication, trust, collaboration, and emotional intelligence in a dynamic and memorable setting.

Grounded in the EAGALA model, our workshops are experiential and ground-based, meaning participants interact with the horses through structured activities that highlight communication patterns, leadership styles, boundaries, emotional awareness, problem-solving, and collaboration. Horses respond authentically to human behavior and energy, offering immediate, non-judgmental feedback that promotes reflection and growth.

Group offerings may include:

  • Youth Social-Emotional Groups – Building confidence, emotional regulation, peer relationships, and resilience.

  • Women’s Empowerment Workshops – Strengthening voice, boundaries, self-trust, and leadership presence.

  • Family Connection Workshops – Improving communication, clarifying roles, and rebuilding trust.

  • Professional & Leadership Team-Building – Enhancing communication, conflict resolution, adaptability, and cohesive team functioning.

  • Employee Wellness, Burnout, & Stress-Reduction Retreats – Supporting helping professionals, caregivers, and high-achievers in reconnecting with purpose and balance.

Workshops are facilitated by a licensed clinician and a trained Equine Support Specialist in partnership with Faith Hill Care Farm, ensuring both clinical integrity and equine welfare. Participants leave with increased self-awareness, practical communication tools, and a deeper understanding of how their internal experiences impact external relationships.
